About the job
The City of Langenthal forms the centre of the Bernese Oberaargau with a catchment area of around 80,000 people and, with approximately 16,400 inhabitants, is the eighth largest municipality in the canton of Bern.
The Social Welfare Office of the City of Langenthal is a medium-sized social service with 24 committed social workers, divided into 5 teams, led by team leaders, department heads and a head of office. We have a well-organised administration and are a young and dynamic team.
From 1 January 2027 or by arrangement, we are looking for a
Social Worker Social Assistance (70%-100%)
This is your job
- Orientation of economic social assistance within the framework of cantonal guidelines and internal instructions
- Advice and support for clients with a focus on social and professional integration
- Conducting preventive consultations
- Goal-oriented case management as well as solution-oriented work even in challenging situations
- Location-independent working (commuting, home office, hybrid meeting formats)
- Appreciative atmosphere & supportive attitude among social workers
- Support from a separate intake team, a well-coordinated administration team and an in-house legal service
- Thorough induction by experienced professionals
- Intervision and coaching during the introductory phase
- Internal training and supervision

- Degree from a university of applied sciences or university in social work
- Professional experience highly desirable or willingness to familiarise yourself with the broad field of statutory social work

- Confident oral and written expression
- Good understanding of administrative processes and good IT user skills
