Task

• Handling all questions related to the implementation of sanctions in Switzerland


• Answering inquiries from authorities and companies regarding the implementation of sanctions; assessing exemption requests


• Developing and updating legal bases (especially ordinances and their annexes) when UN or EU sanction measures change


• Collaborating in the preparation of negotiation dossiers, participating in internal administrative meetings and working groups

• Completed university degree (Blaw or MLaw), good knowledge of administrative procedures (PA, DPA) and European law


• Strong interest in legal, economic, and political issues


• Independent working style; ability to synthesize, initiative, and team spirit


• You have very good oral and written knowledge of two official languages and good English skills

The Bilateral Economic Relations division is part of the Directorate for Foreign Economic Affairs in the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs. In addition to maintaining bilateral economic relations with other countries, the division is also responsible for export control of industrial and military goods as well as the implementation of sanctions. The Sanctions unit is responsible for implementing international coercive measures in Switzerland. These are decisions of the UN Security Council or those of Switzerland's main trading partners. The unit is also responsible for controlling the international trade in rough diamonds in Switzerland.

The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is the federal competence center for all core issues of economic and labor market policy and belongs to the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER). It promotes international market opening for goods, services, and investments. To reduce poverty, SECO is engaged in economic development cooperation. It plans economic and trade policy measures in favor of developing countries, Eastern European and Central Asian countries, as well as the new member states of the European Union (EU).
