In view of a vacant position, we are seeking by public tender a

full-time member of the Insurance Court

You will serve as a judge for the Insurance Court.

The Cantonal Council is expected to make the election in the spring session of 2027. The commencement of office is planned for 1 June 2027 or by agreement. The Judicial Committee of the Cantonal Council advises on the election proposals of the parliamentary groups for the cantonal courts. It hears the candidates and decides on their suitability for the office. The parliamentary groups then submit their election proposals to the Cantonal Council, which elects the members of the cantonal courts.

Swiss citizenship is required for election to a judicial office of the cantonal courts, and residence in the canton is required for the exercise of office (cf. Art. 33 para. 1 KV; Art. 25 para. 1 GerG). The Judicial Committee values not only the professional and personal suitability of the candidates but also a balanced representation of the various political forces in the cantonal courts.

• Completed law degree; bar admission, legal practice, and court experience are advantageous
• Several years of professional experience in public law from previous work in the judiciary, legal practice, academia, private sector, or administration
• Excellent professional qualifications, resilience, efficient working style, and editorial skills
• Organisational and negotiation skills as well as decisiveness, high social competence, and pronounced teamwork ability
• Ability to preside over the court and a division in court hearings and in jurisprudence
• Ability and willingness to independently draft and/or process procedural orders, single-judge and collegiate decisions based on drafts from court clerks
• Personal integrity and independence, familiarity with dealing with authorities, administration, and media

The application documents should include a letter of motivation addressed to the Cantonal Council, a standardised CV (available from the parliamentary groups), a detailed personal CV, a current debt enforcement and criminal record extract, as well as the relevant professional diplomas or certificates. Submission should be in PDF format.

The parliamentary groups are invited to submit their candidacies to the Judicial Committee by 9 October 2026, 12:00 noon. Interested parties are advised to approach a parliamentary group as early as possible from which they wish to be nominated for election.
