Unix System Administrator / Senior Backup - Commvault

On behalf of our client, a Swiss private bank of international scale specialising in wealth management, we are looking for a Unix System Administrator / Senior Backup specialist focused on Commvault.

Within the infrastructure team, you will manage backup and storage administration and participate in modernising the environment as well as strengthening its cyber resilience.

The start date is planned for early January, within the framework of a six-month Try & Hire contract with the prospect of a permanent contract. Participation in 24/7 on-call duties may be organised according to your availability and the team’s needs.

Main Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain the Commvault backup solution, as well as the associated backup and storage infrastructure.
• Handle requests and tickets related to backups and ensure the follow-up of daily operations.
• Supervise backups, analyse incidents and implement necessary corrective actions.
• Optimise performance, retention policies and the use of backup and storage resources.
• Analyse the existing architecture and propose improvements in terms of reliability, availability and capacity.
• Participate in the renewal of servers and storage equipment, as well as the redesign of the backup architecture.
• Contribute to strengthening cyber resilience and improving restoration and recovery capabilities of the infrastructure.
• Conduct restoration and recovery tests to verify the effectiveness of the systems in place.
• Develop and improve automation of backup, monitoring and restoration operations.
• Collaborate with systems, infrastructure and datacentre teams to ensure the availability and reliability of backed-up data.

We are looking for a profile meeting the following criteria:

• Approximately 4 to 5 years of experience in backup, systems or IT infrastructure administration, with significant experience in Commvault.
• In-depth mastery of Commvault and its mechanisms: architecture, backup, restoration, deduplication and retention management.
• Strong skills in Unix/Linux administration.
• Experience in storage environment administration, with good knowledge of SAN infrastructures.
• Ability to analyse an infrastructure as a whole and contribute to its optimisation and evolution.
• Good understanding of cyber resilience issues and restoration and recovery mechanisms.
• Skills in scripting and automation of operational tasks.
• Experience in managing incidents, requests and performance issues related to backups.
• Analytical mindset, autonomy, rigour and ability to work within a team.
• Professional English required.
• Experience in the banking sector is an advantage.
