The Real Estate Management of ETH Zurich - as part of the Vice Presidency for Infrastructure and Sustainability - is responsible for the real estate portfolio of our university. For the annual investments of approx. CHF 200 million, we adhere to the highest standards of construction and real estate management and provide forward-looking space and modern working environments in a timely manner for teaching, research, as well as knowledge and technology transfer at ETH Zurich.
Job description
As Head of the Finance & Data Management section and member of the Real Estate Management (REM) department management, you and your teams are responsible for the following three specialist areas:
- Finance & Controlling – invoice processing, credit management, planning, reporting and business partnering
- Data Management – management of room and area data, building documentation and archiving
- Construction Administration Applications – operation and further development of the applications used
You act as a sparring and business partner to the Director of Real Estate Management and support him in managing the department. You align yourself with the overarching objectives of the ETH Board, ETH Zurich, and the Vice Presidency for Finance and Controlling. You work closely with various stakeholders, promote a motivating working atmosphere, and proactively drive digital transformation forward.
Your area of responsibility includes in particular:
- Monitoring investment and multi-year planning in line with strategic real estate development
- Overall responsibility for planning, management and control of the budget
- Providing meaningful analyses and evaluations as decision-making bases for the REM department and higher-level committees
- Leading the section with around 15 employees, including two team leaders in the areas of Finance & Controlling and Data Management
Profile
- Completed business administration studies (university/FH) or comparable further education (e.g. Swiss federal diploma expert in accounting & controlling) with a focus on controlling
- Several years of leadership experience in a large and complex organization, ideally with a public or private client or a real estate service provider in the GL/GU or TU area
- Solid expertise in strategic and operational controlling
- In-depth knowledge of the construction and real estate industry
- Analytical and strategic thinking combined with solution-oriented and pragmatic action as well as implementation strength
- Very good communication skills in German (mainly) and English as well as enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration, especially with the cross-divisional finance community of ETH Zurich
