About the job
Business Engineer Digital Teaching Operations & Workflow Automation (m/f/d)
At ETH Zurich, over 20,000 students are enrolled at bachelor’s and master’s level or as auditors. The teaching operations behind this are managed through a broad application landscape. The Digital Teaching Operations team of the Academic Services department is responsible for support, maintenance, conception, configuration, and further development of the digital teaching operations landscape.
For the strategic project "Digital Campus" we are looking for a committed and solution-oriented individual as a Business Engineer on a fixed-term contract until the project ends in September 2029. Successful implementation requires not only technological changes but also the continuous development of processes, roles, and forms of collaboration. As a Business Engineer, you form the bridge between specialist departments, IT, and project organisation, ensuring that professional requirements are effectively translated into functioning solutions.
Job Description

- Participation in the introduction, further development, and continuous improvement of the Digital Campus solution landscape
- Conception, implementation, and further development of workflow automations as well as support in the introduction of AI-supported working methods and tools
- Definition of professional quality and acceptance criteria as well as ensuring the professional quality of solutions
- Planning, execution, and support of testing, professional acceptance, releases, and quality assurance
- Ensuring sustainable documentation as well as building and maintaining process, product, and project knowledge
- Co-responsibility for operation, further development, and support of existing applications
- Close collaboration with specialist departments, project management, developers, and other stakeholders for the successful implementation of change initiatives
Profile
- Completed university degree in business informatics, computer science, or a comparable field
- 3-5 years of experience as a Business Engineer, Business Analyst, Requirements Engineer, or in a comparable role
- Experience in digitalisation, transformation, or IT projects
- Practical experience with workflow automation, ideally based on N8N, as well as interest in AI-supported tools and working methods
- Good knowledge of SQL and data analysis is an advantage
- Strong analytical skills as well as a structured and solution-oriented working style
- Ability to prepare complex professional and technical contexts appropriately for the target audience
- High quality awareness as well as experience in testing, professional acceptance, or quality assurance
- Strong communication and collaboration skills as well as enjoyment in working with diverse stakeholder groups
- Independent, responsible, and proactive personality with high initiative
- Confident handling of Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft 365
- Enthusiasm for actively shaping the digital transformation and developing sustainable solutions at the interface of business and IT
