The Office for Spatial Development and Geoinformation (AREG) is the cantonal specialist office for spatial development, official surveying, and geoinformation.

The Geoinformation Department provides services as a competence center on behalf of "eGovernment St.Gallen digital." for the joint geodata infrastructure of the canton of St.Gallen and the municipalities of St.Gallen. It supports cantonal specialist offices with all GIS-related questions and takes the lead in the procurement and management of geobase data.
