About the job
makes it challenging and interesting. We have very versatile work opportunities available. Both in diagnostics and training, one can draw on so many possibilities. In diagnostics, we even offer more than what is required in the apprenticeship. I also really like that we can work very individually with all clients. You don't see that in many places. This ensures that you can optimally apply your own experiences but also constantly gain new ones. Vanessa Fries presents the apprenticeship. Vanessa Fries has been working at the Aktiv Center of the Physio Care Center since January 2022. She was one of the first graduates of the Movement and Health Promotion specialist course and has completed the advanced training level to become a specialist in this field in recent years. She also holds a teaching certificate and will train an apprentice in Movement and Health Promotion at the Physio Care Center from summer 2023. How are the requirements for apprentices as part of the Physio Care Center team? Vanessa Fries, TrainerI find the team here very cool. Everyone is very open and helpful, and there is a good dynamic. People support each other, and the cross-departmental collaboration between physiotherapists, medical masseurs, medical training therapists, and us trainers works very well. There is a lot of knowledge available, and you can always find someone who can help professionally. The Physio Care Center also has experience with apprenticeship training. In recent years, we have regularly had medical masseurs, physiotherapists, or movement scientists from ETH complete their internships with us. What does a Movement and Health Promotion specialist do? What is the difference between the apprenticeship for Movement and Health Promotion specialist and training in physiotherapy or movement sciences? One main difference is that physiotherapists have the main responsibility in the acute phase of complaints. Both movement and sports scientists and Movement and Health Promotion specialists take responsibility for the further development and prevention in the health and training centre. Physiotherapists also work manually, while we guide and let clients work independently. The apprenticeship is much more practice-oriented than a degree in movement and sports sciences, which is more theoretical and broader and does not focus solely on working with people. You must be able to work with people, regardless of age. It is also very important to be open and communicative. However, you should also set a good example through your own lifestyle so that clients can better understand and empathise with their complaints, condition, and resilience. It also helps enormously if you have your own experience in areas such as sport, nutrition, and relaxation to incorporate into consultations. The Physio Care Center receives requests for trial days every year. In the canton of Schwyz, there was no free apprenticeship place for this training in the current school year. Nationwide, about 110 apprentices started their training this summer. Spread across Switzerland, this is naturally very few. By comparison: in the construction sector, there are around 4300 apprentices in the first year. Depending on the area of work, you are responsible for clients during training and ensure optimal training conditions and a good atmosphere. You are responsible for the entire training area and ensure optimal strength, endurance, flexibility, and coordination exercises are found and correctly performed. You must also be able to stand in front of a group and lead it. Are you interested in our apprenticeship and would like to spend a day with us? Then contact me directly at vanessafries@physio-care-center.ch and tell me why you are the right person for our apprenticeship! The course is much better known now than when I started. There is a restructuring happening in our industry, with certification of health and training centres increasingly valuing training. Our offer
Training centre
With the Aktiv Training subscription, many more possibilities open up for employees and clients in strength, endurance, fitness guide certified health and training centres. The start of training is accompanied by extensive health, goal, and performance assessments, and all values and personal goals flow into the individual training plan. The training plans are evaluated and adjusted during the subscription. This maintains the efficiency of training and the fun of movement at a high level. The apprenticeship with the various further training opportunities aims precisely at work in a training centre. Physiotherapists mainly lead group courses and administrative tasks. We also advise our clients in everyday activities, nutrition, and active relaxation and motivate them towards a permanently healthy lifestyle. Why did you decide to take this course?
I have always been very enthusiastic about sport and enjoyed movement. I also really like working with people. When I went to career counselling back then, it became clear that I wanted to do something with sport. I did not want to go to grammar school or college. This apprenticeship was quite new then, and I could try a day at the Physio Care Center. It immediately grabbed me. What do you like about working at the Physio Care Center? There are many reasons. The Physio Care Center, together with the associated Physiotherapy, already has a medical, health-oriented focus. This gives optimal conditions for both apprentices and clients.
The free apprenticeship place is advertised immediately, and interested persons can register for trial days and apply. Since the Physio Care Center could not offer an apprenticeship place back then, I completed my Aktiv Training apprenticeship at the Gesundheitspark Thalwil, operated by the vice president of the SFGV, who oversees apprenticeships in Switzerland. You are from Einsiedeln. How many people from the region have completed this course so far?
So far, only three people including me. The main task is to inspire and motivate trainees so that they always like to come to training and understand the importance and benefit of movement for the musculoskeletal system, which makes the work joyful. 6
