The Office for Spatial Development and Geoinformation (AREG) is the cantonal specialist office for spatial development, official surveying, and geoinformation.

The Geoinformation Department provides services as a competence centre on behalf of «eGovernment St.Gallen digital.» for the joint geodata infrastructure of the canton of St.Gallen and the St.Gallen municipalities. It supports cantonal specialist offices with all GIS-related questions and takes the lead in the procurement and management of geobase data.
