About the job
STAT19Statistics Service (STAT)
STAT is the cantonal centre for data science and artificial intelligence. Its main missions include providing cantonal and municipal authorities as well as the public with relevant, meaningful, reliable, and coherent statistical information. It collects, produces, processes, analyses, and stores data for statistical purposes based on scientifically chosen principles independently, respecting the Swiss public statistics charter.
Your missions
As an AI expert, you work closely with the cantonal AI delegate and are responsible for projects related to artificial intelligence and data science. In this context, you conduct advanced analyses in various fields (public health, finance, labour market, etc.). You develop and implement innovative solutions in machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI to enhance statistical data and support decision-making. Additionally, you ensure the preparation and exploitation of large databases while participating in the creation and dissemination of AI-related training within the cantonal administration and its partners. In carrying out your duties, you actively collaborate with state services, municipalities, and the Swiss statistical system. Finally, you document your work, propose improvements, and contribute to the enhancement and dissemination of the canton’s statistical data.
Your profile
Holder of a university master’s degree or an equivalent qualification in artificial intelligence, data science, mathematics, physics, or computer science, you have at least 3 years of professional experience in AI and data science. A doctorate in one of these fields is an asset. You possess strong skills in planning and managing complex, multidisciplinary projects. Technically, you have excellent command of languages (Python, R) and tools (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) related to machine learning, data analysis (Pandas, NumPy, RStudio, Tableau+), and databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server). Additionally, you are proficient in setting up RAGs and implementing AI agents. You also demonstrate good knowledge of the functioning of political and administrative institutions as well as the missions of public statistics. Furthermore, you have good knowledge of English and German. Finally, your profile is distinguished by initiative, great organisational rigour, genuine interpersonal ease, and absolute respect for confidentiality.
We offer you
- Joining a dynamic, welcoming, and supportive team.
- A responsible, varied, and motivating position in an environment that promotes innovation.
- Flexible work organisation in a modern environment open to new ideas.
