Medical Secretary for the Prison Medicine and Psychiatry Service
The Prison Medicine and Psychiatry Service is seeking a medical secretary at 40% to manage specialised medical appointments. The start date is set for 1 November 2026 or by agreement, under a permanent contract.
This position is in a secure environment and the working days are Tuesday and Friday.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in medical care, research, and education.
The Prison Medicine and Psychiatry Service (SMPP) is mandated to meet all health needs of the Vaud prison population.
Its staff work directly in Vaud prisons, offering consultations to inmates.
Mission
- You manage the scheduling of specialised medical appointments (handling the mailbox and telephones)
- You arrange specialised medical appointments according to deadlines and transport availability
- You coordinate appointments with various institutions (transfer brigade, medical services, ...)
- You manage the maintenance of the database, various dashboards and listings
- You attend the weekly somatic medical meeting
Profile
- You hold a Federal VET Diploma as a commercial employee or an equivalent qualification, ideally complemented by a medical secretary diploma
- You have at least 3 years of experience in a medical secretariat, working independently
- You have excellent command of French, both spoken and written (a foreign language is an asset)
- You possess excellent skills in common IT tools; knowledge of institutional applications is an advantage
- You demonstrate a strong service orientation, empathy and ease in a multidisciplinary environment
- You know how to adapt your communication to sensitive situations and manage priorities rigorously
- You have a good knowledge of the Vaud socio-health network and the functioning of state and semi-public structures related to psychiatry.
