The University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons (FHGR) is a public-law university with cantonal sponsorship. With around 350 employees and over 2000 students in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs as well as 450 students in academic continuing education courses, it offers practice-oriented teaching, applied research, and services in the fields of business and services, technology and IT, as well as architecture, construction, and planning. Its study programs are oriented towards current challenges in the economy and society. As a regionally anchored university with nationwide significance in Switzerland and international impact, it actively contributes to the success and competitiveness of people, institutions, and regions.
We are looking for a President of the University Council for the FHGR starting July 1, 2026.
- The University Council is the strategic management and supervisory body of the University of Applied Sciences and is elected by the government of the canton of Grisons. As of July 1, 2026, the part-time leadership of the highest governing body for the election period 2026 – 2030 is to be newly appointed.
- As an honest, convincing leader with academic qualifications, you understand how to competently and effectively shape and accompany the strategic management as well as demanding development and innovation processes within the FHGR from a committee.
- With pronounced communication skills and strategic thinking ability as well as a process-oriented, flexible, and interdisciplinary working style, you succeed in involving diverse stakeholders, promoting open dialogue, and moderating change processes purposefully and prudently.
- You are familiar with the Swiss education and higher education landscape, know the range of vocational and tertiary education, and possess the necessary political sensitivity for educational issues at the cantonal and national level, for example in research or innovation policy or in closely related educational areas. You have a proven, solid (specialist) understanding of the current challenges of the FHGR. You are familiar with the political processes in the canton of Grisons. To promote the complementary composition of the University Council, in-depth knowledge in the field of jurisprudence is an advantage.
- As a committed person connected to the canton of Grisons, you significantly contribute both to inter-cantonal and intra-cantonal cooperation as well as to linking the institution with regionally relevant actors and practical partners.
