About the job

For our client, a successful and internationally oriented company in the consumer goods sector based in the Basel region, we are looking immediately or by arrangement for a successor as:

Head of Quality Food 80-100%

Responsibilities:

• Professional advice to management on quality issues
• Implementation and ensuring compliance with quality guidelines
• Ensuring a comprehensive overview of the release process as well as a clear distribution of responsibilities within the team
• Instruction and coordination of corrective and preventive measures
• Main contact person for quality assurance questions towards authorities
• Communication on nutrition and quality topics with customers, retailers, associations and suppliers, including statements and participation in working groups (Association of Experts for Infant Nutrition)
• Monitoring product tests and relevant publications
• Preparation of statements on quality assurance topics
• Ensuring efficient communication and smooth processes at internal and external interfaces, especially with other departments and subsidiaries
• Support in product development, projects and professional questions around quality, nutrition and sustainability
• Co-responsibility for preparing entry into new export markets in cooperation with the Regulatory team
• Implementation and coordination of requirements of the Demeter association
• Further development of the team, operational processes as well as internal and external interfaces
• Handling and coordination of ad-hoc concerns and work packages
• Member of the HACCP and crisis teams
• Active management of crisis situations with corresponding decision-making responsibility
• Responsibility for audits within the framework of ISO 22000, Halal, EU and Swiss organic certifications as well as certifications by industry associations

Your profile:

• Completed university degree in food sciences, food technology, nutritional sciences, biology, chemistry or a comparable natural science field
• Several years of solid professional experience in quality management or food safety within the food industry
• Leadership experience and enjoyment in developing a team professionally and personally
• Sound knowledge of quality management systems, HACCP and relevant food safety standards is an advantage
• Experience in audit management and dealing with certification systems
• Very good understanding of European and Swiss food legislation
• Experience in an international environment and confidence in dealing with various stakeholders – from authorities and suppliers to senior management
• Strong analytical and organisational skills as well as a pragmatic, solution-oriented working style
• Confidence and decisiveness – even in demanding or time-critical situations
• Fluent German and English skills, both spoken and written

Nice to haves:

• Experience in the field of infant nutrition
• Knowledge of ISO 22000 as well as organic and Halal certifications
• Experience in regulatory affairs
• Experience with international markets or preparing new export markets
• Spanish language skills
