Systems Software Engineer (m/f/d)
How do you stop a drone in mid-air? Our Rocken partner develops and produces intelligent interception systems for unmanned aerial vehicles. With electrically powered Sentinel systems reaching speeds of up to 230 km/h, the company protects critical infrastructures from unwanted aerial intruders. The solutions combine autonomous flight control, intelligent seekers, and modular design – from pure interception to controlled removal into secure zones. Software that deeply integrates with technical systems: This position is aimed at developers who enjoy C++, network protocols, hardware integration, and complex system landscapes. Instead of isolated application development, the focus is on the interaction of entire systems.
Responsibilities:
Development of central software components for complex technical platforms
Building high-performance backend services with modern C++
Designing clear software architectures for durable and extensible systems
Development of communication layers for internal and external system components
Integration of network protocols, hardware, and distributed services
Implementation of robust APIs and service-oriented communication models
Connecting backend logic with functional user interfaces
Analysis of technical requirements and development of suitable solution architectures
Investigation of performance issues, runtime errors, and complex system states
Optimisation of data flows, resource consumption, and system response times
Development of automated tests to secure central system functions
Participation in architecture and code reviews
Further development of existing software components through refactoring and modernisation
Support in integration, release, and technical commissioning
Documentation of architecture, interfaces, and relevant technical decisions
Qualifications:
Experience in professional C++ development
Solid understanding of object-oriented software architecture
Good knowledge of memory management, concurrency, and modular software development
Interest in embedded, backend, or system-level software development
Understanding of network protocols and communication between distributed components
Experience with REST, gRPC, or comparable communication mechanisms is an advantage
Confident use of Git and CMake
Ideally experience with Linux and automated build and test processes
Interest in hardware integration and technical overall systems
Structured approach to debugging and root-cause analysis
Quality awareness and commitment to sustainable software architectures
Initiative and enthusiasm for implementing technical solutions from idea to integration
