The Office for Information Technology (AFI) is the IT competence centre of the Canton of Zurich. It provides comprehensive services in the area of central IT infrastructure and canton-wide applications for directorates, authorities, the judiciary, and independent institutions. Commissioned with the implementation of the new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) strategy, the Office for Information Technology accompanies and supports the Canton of Zurich into the digital world.
In the Digital Innovation Hub (DIH), we shape technological innovation in the Canton of Zurich. We recognise relevant developments early, identify potential for the administration, and make new technologies tangible through concrete use cases.
Not only observing new technologies but also developing, testing, and getting them off the ground yourself. As a Technology Innovation Architect with a focus on product development, you develop convincing use cases together with the administrative units and support them in recognising, assessing, and practically trying out the potential of modern technologies.
Become part of the Digital Innovation Hub and help us shape the technological future of the cantonal administration.
Your tasks:
- You keep an eye on technology trends, assess their relevance, and actively develop the canton’s technology radar.
- You help design innovation workshops and formats, make new technologies tangible, and identify concrete use cases together with the participants.
- You develop and validate prototypes (PoC) and pilot projects (MVP) together with the administrative units and derive insights on potential, feasibility, and fields of application.
- You further develop and actively maintain the partner network with industry, universities, and administration.
- You advise the involved parties on transferring technology innovations into value creation.
- You prepare results and recommendations appropriately for the target audience and present them to the relevant committees as a basis for decision-making.
Your profile:
- Technical background and several years of experience in digital innovation and product development projects, including rapid prototyping and validation of PoCs and MVPs.
- Further education at CAS/MAS level, e.g. in IT architecture, technology management, or innovation & tech.
- Familiar with innovation methods such as design thinking, prototyping techniques, and co-creation.
- Hands-on mentality, strong implementation skills, and enjoyment in turning ideas into tangible solutions.
- Strategic thinking, persuasiveness, and strong presentation skills in German.
- Ability to bring together different stakeholders from specialist departments, IT, and external partners; network in the Swiss tech or innovation landscape is an advantage.
What we offer you:
- A unique role at the interface of technology, innovation, and administration.
- Lots of freedom to try out new technologies and bring them directly into practice.
- Collaboration with a broad partner ecosystem from industry, universities, and startups.
- A motivated, interdisciplinary team in the Digital Innovation Hub.
- Flexible working hours and modern working conditions within the cantonal administration.
- Various opportunities for professional and personal development.
