About the job
Company Description
MF Group is a subsidiary of Riverty and part of the Bertelsmann Group. Around 120 employees work at two locations in Switzerland to make purchase on account with flexible instalment payments even easier and safer for Swiss retail. As a leading Swiss provider, we are an important pillar for retail and combine credit checks, fraud prevention, invoicing and pre-financing into a comprehensive package.
In addition to our straightforward invoice purchase – online and directly in-store – we offer private individuals a flexible cash credit. We are also issuers of various payment cards. Our strength lies in complex projects where different sales channels and payment methods interact. We collaborate with almost all major stationary and online retailers in Switzerland and actively shape the future of payments.
Job Description
We are looking for support as
Network Engineer (m/f/d)
(permanent, full-time) Join our team at our location in St. Gallen – flexible working conditions available
As part of our IT infrastructure team, you will play a central role in the design, further development and secure operation of our network infrastructure. Our systems form the technical basis for business-critical payment and authorisation processes and accordingly place high demands on availability, security and stability.
At the same time, our infrastructure is undergoing change: we are increasingly migrating from classic on-premises environments to the cloud and developing our network architecture towards modern hybrid and cloud setups. We are looking for someone who not only reliably operates existing infrastructure but also actively shapes our future network architecture.
Your responsibilities
- You design, operate and further develop our network infrastructure – from corporate, workplace and guest networks to highly segmented networks for productive and business-critical systems.
- You are responsible for the reliable network operation of our productive platforms with high requirements for availability, performance and security in 24/7 operation.
- You further develop our network segmentation and security zones and ensure controlled and traceable communication between systems and network areas.
- You configure and operate our Fortinet/FortiGate and Cisco Meraki infrastructure, including firewalls, routing, switching, VPN and WLAN.
- You systematically analyse network and performance issues, resolve incidents and support complex disruptions and root cause analyses.
- You plan and implement secure connections between on-premises and cloud infrastructures and actively shape our future hybrid network architecture.
- You work closely with our system, cloud, security and application teams and ensure that new systems and services are cleanly integrated into our network and security architecture.
- You implement corporate, security and architectural guidelines in a practical manner and jointly develop standards for network design, operation and documentation with the relevant teams.
- You automate and standardise recurring network tasks where sensible and ensure up-to-date and traceable technical documentation.
- You support the further development of our internet-facing infrastructure, for example in the area of application gateway, reverse proxy and web application firewall (WAF).
Qualifications
You bring with you
- Completed training or comparable qualification in the field of computer science, network or system technology.
- Several years of practical experience in design and operation of enterprise networks, ideally in environments with high requirements for availability and security.
- Very good knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPN, DNS, DHCP and firewalling.
- Practical experience with Fortinet/FortiGate and ideally Cisco Meraki.
- Experience with network segmentation, firewall rule sets and security zones as well as a good understanding of modern network security concepts.
- Experience with highly available infrastructures and operation of business-critical systems.
- Experience with hybrid cloud networks and secure connection of on-premises infrastructures to public cloud environments.
- Ability to analyse complex network problems in a structured way and solve them systematically even under time pressure.
- Independent and structured working style as well as enthusiasm for not only implementing technical standards but actively further developing them.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate on equal terms with infrastructure, security, development and application teams.
- Fluent German in spoken and written form as well as good English skills.
Advantageous
- Experience with cloud networking, especially Azure Networking or comparable public cloud platforms.
- Experience with application gateways, load balancers, reverse proxies and web application firewalls (WAF).
- Knowledge of network access control (NAC), identity/certificate-based network access or zero-trust concepts.
- Experience with infrastructure as code or network automation, for example Terraform, Ansible or APIs.
- Experience in regulated or particularly security-critical environments, for example financial services or payments.
