Business Application Engineer (m/f/d)

When software should do more than just manage data: As a Business Application Engineer, you design digital solutions at the interface between IT and business processes. From process analysis through APIs and data models to the finished application, software is created with direct added value for daily operations.
Responsibilities:
Design and development of modern business applications around ERP and central company processes
Translating complex specialist requirements into intuitive and technically clean software solutions
Analysis of existing applications with a focus on digitalisation and process automation
Development of integrations between ERP, databases, web services, and other systems
Building robust APIs and standardised data interfaces
Modelling and optimisation of data structures and business logic
Development and further development of user interfaces for demanding professional users
Modernisation of grown software components through refactoring and new architectural approaches
Building automated tests for critical functions and interfaces
Use of CI/CD for reproducible build, test, and deployment processes
Analysis of productive disruptions and development of sustainable technical solutions
Conducting technical reviews and continuous improvement of the codebase
Participation in architectural decisions and technological advancement of the application landscape
Collaboration with specialist departments to optimise digital business processes
Documentation of technical concepts, interfaces, and relevant system dependencies
Qualifications:
Professional experience in the development of business software, ERP solutions, or comparable enterprise applications
Confident handling of at least one programming language such as C#, Java, C++, or a comparable technology
Experience with databases, SQL, and structured data models
Understanding of business processes and their technical representation
Knowledge in API development and system integration
Experience with Git and modern development workflows
Ideally practical experience with automated tests and CI/CD
Interest in software architecture, digitalisation, and process automation
Ability to structure technical complexity clearly
High standards for code quality, maintainability, and user-friendliness
Independent and pragmatic working style
Enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration between IT and business
