The Glarnerland Wastewater Association (AVG) ensures the municipal wastewater disposal for the canton of Glarus and the St. Gallen municipalities of Amden, Quarten, Schänis and Weesen. As an independent, state-affiliated company, the Wastewater Association operates one of the leading wastewater treatment plants in Switzerland with the ARA Glarnerland.
The ARA Glarnerland is designed for 105,000 population equivalents and treats around 7.5 million m3 of wastewater annually, which is collected and transported via its own 75 km sewer network and 54 own and supervised special structures.
To monitor and optimise the processes used at the ARA and to ensure quality and compliance with legal regulations and standards, we are looking for a Laboratory Technician.
Your main responsibilities
- Laboratory analysis for self-monitoring and operational optimisation
- Analysing and reporting trends in deviations or inconsistencies in set parameters
- Proposing solutions for problem resolution and plant control
- Commissioning, maintenance and servicing of online measurement technology / online analytics in cooperation with manufacturers
- Process and laboratory technical support during the start-up and accompanying phases of new processes
- Preparing statistics and operational reports as well as MIS documentation
- On-the-job training of wastewater treatment plant personnel
Your profile
- Laboratory technician with a federal diploma (EFZ) specialising in chemistry with at least 3 years of professional experience, preferably in environmental and water analysis
- Very good knowledge of all common laboratory methods, practical experience in gas and liquid chromatography is an advantage
- Structured working method combined with interconnected thinking
- Ability to analyse problems and find solutions
- MS Office suite, especially Excel
