Team Leader Midrange Systems

Responsibilities

• You lead a high-performing infrastructure team of 13 specialists and shape the future of the digital foundation of the city of Zurich.
• You are responsible for the strategic direction and technical advancement of core infrastructures such as Linux/Open Source solutions, scalable databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL), intelligent automation, robust network services (QIP/DNS), and secure Web Application Firewalls.
• You manage the budget and business value in your area of expertise. You plan and monitor investments and the budget efficiently to ensure maximum ROI and resource utilisation.
• You ensure the uninterrupted operation of critical services, define quality standards, and lead strategic lifecycle projects (modernisation, migration, scaling) with a clear focus on digital sovereignty, operational excellence, and hyperautomation.
• You are the point of contact for internal stakeholders, transform technical requirements into effective solutions, and promote the digital competence of employees.

Profile

• IT degree or higher technical education (TS, HF, FH) with a focus on IT or several years of professional experience in the aforementioned areas of responsibility
• Several years of experience in leading employees as well as the ability to motivate them, specifically develop their potential, and achieve goals together
• Solid practical experience in the further development and operation of critical basic infrastructures as well as sound knowledge in the relevant specialist areas
• Independent and proactive working style as well as active contribution of ideas for continuous improvement and process optimisation
• Strong communication skills, clear explanation of complex technical contexts, and a good sense of the needs of internal customers
• Calmness and confident action even in demanding situations, combined with perseverance in implementing strategic initiatives
