About the job
General Secretariat
Lawyer 80 - 100%
The General Secretariat is the leadership staff of the Director of Education and includes the areas of construction, educational planning, specialist and legal services, finance and digital, communication, personnel as well as the appeals department. Here, the affairs and projects of the entire Education Directorate are coordinated.
The appeals department of the General Secretariat of the Education Directorate mainly handles appeals from various legal areas of the directorate. To strengthen the existing team of eight people, we are looking for a lawyer (80-100%) to start immediately or by arrangement. The position is limited to two years.
Your area of responsibility
As a lawyer in the appeals department, you handle appeals against decisions within the responsibility of the Education Directorate. These mainly concern the following areas: entrance examinations and school career decisions in the secondary school and vocational education sector, personnel law for cantonally employed teachers in primary schools as well as vocational and secondary schools, training contributions, state contributions and measures under the Child and Youth Home Act.
In this varied and responsible role, you independently manage appeal procedures and draft your own decision proposals. In doing so, you are in contact with parties and authorities as well as in exchange with your colleagues. In addition, you contribute to the further development of the appeals department, especially in optimising internal processes as well as in preparing and implementing the digitalisation of administrative procedures.
Your profile
You have a university law degree (MLaw / lic.iur.) and are interested in education policy. Thanks to your professional experience, you have very good knowledge of public law and are able to familiarise yourself with new legal areas in a short time and solve complex legal issues. The decisions you draft demonstrate linguistic skill. You know how to formulate legal texts clearly, precisely and convincingly.
You work independently, efficiently and carefully, have good organisational skills and an interest in the digitalisation of administrative procedures. Political acumen, decisiveness, resilience and a confident manner characterise you. If you also enjoy taking responsibility, working as part of a team and keeping an overview even in demanding situations while not losing your sense of humour, you are exactly right for us.

We offer you an interesting and varied position with attractive employment conditions. Your workplace is located directly at Zurich main station.
