About the application process
The nervousness before the first real job interview I ever had in my life was quickly taken away by the young and open-minded team at GONSER.
Already at the interview, I met likeable people and could imagine feeling comfortable in this company.
Already at the first interview, it became clear to me that this was exactly the right internship for me. I felt comfortable at all times during the assessment, and the tasks I was allowed to solve immediately appealed to me. This did not change during my internship. Therefore, my expectations of the internship were fully met, and I already had a good idea of what to expect at GONSER before my first day of work.
About the areas of responsibility
During my internship, I was able to get to know many different aspects of online retail; the tasks are varied. You experience the challenges of almost all steps – from production to customer service.
Since my tasks were often located at the interfaces of different work areas, I had the opportunity to look into other departments besides business development and supply chain management and to collaborate across departments. Through the diverse work, I gained a good overview of how an online shop works.
About the company culture
What struck me positively from the start was the open communication among each other, whether business or private. This allowed me to learn something new every day, better understand processes and gain a comprehensive insight into an exciting and dynamic industry. It is also highly appreciated and taken seriously when you actively approach people and contribute your own ideas and wishes.
The great team at GONSER made it easier for me to enter working life. I quickly felt part of the team and was surprised that we interns were immediately treated as equal employees at eye level. I could ask questions at any time if I was unsure.
I was particularly positively surprised by the team spirit at GONSER. Shared breaks are standard, and it is not about topics you would expect from a parents' coffee morning, but here too, the young dynamic of the team is reflected. This dynamic also made it particularly easy for me to settle in. The open communication, whether in a private or business context, shapes the atmosphere. Here you never feel that you are not allowed to ask something, and your own wishes or ideas are always welcome.
How they have grown
I was allowed to organise my work myself and decide when to do what. I could always count on the support of the other employees. Combined with the high degree of independence, of course, came great responsibility. I quickly realised that, unlike my previous time as a student, my work could also have concrete effects on others and thus on the company's success.
I was particularly impressed by the philosophy of not only giving interns simple and trivial tasks but actively involving them in tasks and giving them their own responsibilities. All this was confirmed during my internship, and in this way, I was challenged but also, I think, benefited enormously from the internship in this modern environment.
Independent work characterised the entire internship and also helped me in all other areas of life. However, you must be aware of this and know how to deal with it. For me, personal responsibility is definitely a plus if you take on the challenge! Now I can head towards my studies with a backpack full of experience, impressions and memories.
