In this role, you will support the urban and landscape development of the municipalities in the canton of Bern. You will work closely with municipal planning authorities by establishing a relationship of trust and contributing to the implementation of innovative solutions in accordance with the master plan and applicable law. An experienced and committed team of planners and lawyers awaits you in Nidau and Bern.

Your tasks

• Conduct preliminary reviews of zoning plans and neighbourhood plans (plans and regulations), as well as master plans
• Collaborate on the approval of zoning plans, including appeal procedures
• Draft technical reports and official reports
• Advise municipalities and regions on spatial planning issues
• Participate in interdisciplinary projects and working groups

Your profile

• Degree in territorial development, geography, architecture, landscape architecture or a comparable discipline
• Knowledge and experience in spatial planning, good spatial representation skills
• Experience as a project manager with analytical and conceptual skills
• Result- and client-oriented working method, strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration in a bilingual environment, ability to assert oneself and negotiate
• Fluent spoken and written French (C2-C1); good active knowledge of German (B2)

The Office for Municipal Affairs and Spatial Planning of the canton of Bern (OACOT) is committed, as the cantonal supervisory and approval authority, to sustainable development of the territory and municipalities for the benefit of the population and the economy. We deal with spatial planning and territorial development issues at municipal, regional and cantonal levels, examine and approve municipal and regional plans, and assess construction projects outside building zones. We monitor municipal finances, examine and approve municipal legislative acts, and advise municipalities on municipal law issues as well as on reforms and mergers.
