About the job

Department of Justice and Security, Cantonal Police, Main Department Prevention
by arrangement
Tasks
Leadership: You lead the Violence Protection Department with four divisions and up to 40 employees from various professional groups in a co-leadership. Together with your division heads, you create clear framework conditions, promote good collaboration and specifically develop your employees. Your department makes an important contribution to effective crime prevention. You are responsible for early detection and risk assessment of persons with an increased risk of violence and offences, targeted interventions with at-risk and endangered persons, as well as threat management. You ensure that the goals of the Cantonal Police and the Main Department Prevention are jointly supported.
Member of the Main Department Prevention Management: As a management member of the Main Department Prevention, you help shape the further development of the main department as well as the newly established Violence Protection Department. You keep an eye on social and security-relevant developments, incorporate different perspectives and think beyond your own area of responsibility.
Consultation and Committee Work: You advise superiors on professional and strategic matters and develop well-founded, comprehensible decision-making bases. Once decisions are made, you ensure their implementation within your area of responsibility and make them understandable for your employees. You participate in cantonal, national and international committees and maintain close cooperation with partner organisations.
Operational and Project Management: You take on operational leadership tasks within an operational organisation, for example within the negotiation group. In addition, you lead projects in your specialist area and accompany them from development to implementation in the organisation. Furthermore, you pass on your experience in training and further education.
Employment Model and Benefits: The Violence Protection Department is led by a co-leadership that equally combines forensic-psychological and police expertise. Both leaders (each 80%-100%) share overall responsibility, contribute their professional focuses and represent each other. We support different life and work models. Flexible working hours, reliable deployment planning and clear agreements create, as far as operational requirements allow, space for family, care, further education or other personal commitments. We offer thorough induction, targeted development opportunities and an appreciative leadership culture in which different perspectives are welcome. We especially encourage women to apply – alone or together in a tandem.
Profile
Experience: You have already led teams personnel-wise and ensured good collaboration. You have solid professional experience in a field relevant to the position. Ideally, you have experience in the forensic and/or clinical context. Experience in strategic projects or in cooperation with various partner organisations in Switzerland is an advantage.
Personality: You gladly take on responsibility, provide orientation and grasp complex contexts with strategic foresight. You shape a culture in which interdisciplinary collaboration can unfold its strengths and promote cooperation between disciplines. Even in crisis situations or before political committees, you appear credible, build trust and involve others in common concerns. Even when encountering people in psychological exceptional states or making professional decisions with great significance for the threat situation, you remain capable of acting, communicate comprehensibly and know your personal limits.
Education: You have a Master’s degree in Psychology as well as ideally further training in the forensic field and/or completed therapy training.
Language: You express yourself clearly, understandably and appropriately for your counterpart both orally and in writing in German. Knowledge of French and English is an advantage.
