For our legal service in the Office for the Execution of Sentences of the Canton of Bern, we are looking for a committed legal professional. We are dedicated to a modern, legally compliant execution of sentences that focuses on rehabilitation and recidivism prevention.

Your tasks

• You support and advise line managers and organisational units (in particular correctional facilities and prisons) on all legal matters.
• You apply and expand your expertise in various legal areas, especially in execution and enforcement law, data protection, procurement and contract law, as well as Bernese administrative law.
• You update internal departmental directives and participate in cantonal legislative projects.
• You draft internal instructions, legal documents, consultations and orders.
• You work in a committed team and maintain regular communication with the operational units in the execution of sentences.

Your profile

• Completed legal studies (Master's degree).
• Editorial skills and audience-appropriate style.
• Enjoyment of interdisciplinary issues and contact with numerous stakeholders.
• Networked, solution-oriented thinking and working methods.
• Service orientation and a committed demeanour.
• High service orientation, sense of responsibility and loyalty.
• Empathetic and confident appearance.

About the Office for the Execution of Sentences

The Office for the Execution of Sentences (AJV) employs around 1000 staff within the Security Directorate of the Canton of Bern (SID) and is responsible for the open and closed enforcement of sentences and measures for adults and juveniles. To fulfil this task, the office has at its disposal four concordat correctional facilities, four regional prisons, the surveillance station at Inselspital, the detention control centre, as well as probation and enforcement services.
