Your Role & Main Responsibilities

• H&S Policies and Standards: You review the existing Health & Safety policies of VSL and ensure their effective integration and consistent implementation throughout the company.
• Leadership & H&S Culture: You work closely with the leadership team and actively contribute to the development and strengthening of a sustainable Health & Safety culture across the entire organisation.
• Safety Inspections: You conduct regular inspections on construction sites as well as in our production facility, identify potential risks, and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
• Risk Management: You develop safe working procedures and provide practical advice to project teams on assessing and reducing risks as well as implementing H&S best practices.
• H&S Consulting: You act as the central contact person for all Health & Safety matters and support managers and project teams in implementing suitable measures.
• SUVA and VSL Standards: You ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements as well as the Health & Safety standards and procedures of SUVA and the VSL Group.
• ISO 45001: You ensure that the Health & Safety management approach meets the requirements of ISO 45001 and support the continuous development and improvement of the related processes.
• Health & Safety Management System: You assist in the creation, updating, and implementation of the Health & Safety management system and the corresponding project plans.
• H&S Investigations: When necessary, you lead investigations of Health & Safety incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and ensure that appropriate corrective and preventive measures are defined and implemented.
• External Stakeholders: You represent Health & Safety topics to key external stakeholders, including clients, authorities, and other relevant organisations.
• Training: You train and raise awareness among employees and managers regarding safe working methods, safety standards, and the correct use of safety equipment.
• Reporting & Analysis: You analyse relevant H&S key figures and data and prepare monthly reports for the leadership team. You identify trends and recommend or initiate suitable improvement measures as needed.

Your Profile

Education & Experience:

• You have at least 10 years of professional experience in the construction industry in a responsible leadership role in Health & Safety.
• You hold a recognised qualification in occupational safety and health protection. Recognition as a specialist in occupational safety and health protection (ASGS) in Switzerland is an advantage.
• Other relevant qualifications may also be considered, provided you can demonstrate the required professional competence for a role in Health & Safety in Switzerland and the EU.
• You have solid experience in risk management, developing safe working procedures, and investigating Health & Safety incidents.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 and experience with corresponding management systems are required.
• You are accustomed to working independently, setting priorities, and planning and implementing necessary measures autonomously.
• You have very good knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.

Languages:

• German or French is your mother tongue and you have good English skills.
• Knowledge of the other national language is an advantage.

Personality:

• You communicate confidently and effectively with employees, project teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
• You possess strong leadership skills and the ability to engage and influence others on Health & Safety topics.
• You work independently, practically, and solution-oriented, and remain capable of action even in challenging situations.
• You are flexible, self-motivated, and willing to take responsibility and actively drive improvements.
