About the job

Strengthen the Politics Department in the Central Secretariat in Bern as soon as possible as
Specialist Secretary Research and Fundamentals "Ecological Transformation of the MEM Industry" (50-60%, project fixed-term until the end of June 2027)
Your impact
The machinery, electrical and metal industry (MEM) in Switzerland is very directly affected by the climate crisis. To achieve energy and climate targets, companies must use resources more efficiently and reduce their emissions. The trade union challenges here are the preservation of jobs and the protection of employees’ rights.
Employees covered by the MEM collective labour agreement have participation rights on environmental issues. To strengthen these, the associations Unia, Syna and KV organise a training cycle on the ecological transformation of the MEM industry. This aims to impart basic knowledge about the climate crisis and the legal framework in the national and international context, as well as to highlight and discuss action perspectives in personnel commissions and companies.
The project is funded by the MEM collective labour agreement’s continuing education fund and started in spring 2025. You will further develop the training programme, produce a regular bulletin and organise courses both content-wise and administratively. Project website: www.industrie-nettonull.ch.
