Officer in charge of forest conservation sector
Office of Forests and Natural Hazards | 50-70% | Chur
The Office of Forests and Natural Hazards (UFP) is the cantonal specialized service for the forest and protection against natural hazards. The employees of the UFP are committed to the needs of society regarding the forest and ensure sustainable forest management.
You ensure that the Graubünden forest
- is capable of protecting people, animals, and infrastructure,
- is the habitat for various animal and plant species,
- is a supplier of raw materials such as wood, water, and energy,
- can also serve as a place of rest and recreation for people in the future.
For March 1, 2026 or by agreement, we are looking for an officer in charge of the forest conservation sector (50-70%)
Your responsibilities:
- Support for the forest conservation sector in matters of forest supervision, forest law, and wildfire prevention
- Participation in statements within the framework of co-reporting and consultation procedures
- Development of forest law issues within construction projects
- Preparation of special forest law permits such as regulations for grazing in the forest, easements, and sale/exchange of publicly owned forest
- You are the contact person for GIS and digitalization issues in the forest conservation sector (power user GIS)
- Management of clearings in the geographic information system
- Digitalization of technical content in the forestry field (e.g., grazing regulations in the forest, water withdrawal points)
- Support in ensuring wildfire prevention
What distinguishes you
- Degree as a forest engineer PF/SUP or equivalent training in forestry or environmental field.
- Knowledge of appeal and administrative procedures
- Good GIS and IT skills
- Efficient working method and strong social skills
- Initiative, team orientation, and reliability
- The working language is generally German; good knowledge of several cantonal languages is an advantage
