The Social Welfare Office of the Canton of Schaffhausen fulfils overarching tasks in the areas of social assistance, victim support, and advance maintenance payments. It is responsible for the approval, financing, and supervision of institutions for adults with disabilities as well as for residential child and youth services. It also manages the specialist office for equality, violence prevention, and protection against violence. Furthermore, the office performs tasks in the asylum and refugee sector on behalf of the federal government.

The Asylum and Refugee Care Department bears the main responsibility for the accommodation, care, support, employment, and integration of persons residing in the Canton of Schaffhausen from the asylum and refugee sector.

For legal support in the department, we are looking for a

Lawyer in the Asylum Sector, 50-100%, initially limited to 1 year

What to expect

• Advice and support for the management personnel in asylum and refugee care on legal questions and clarifications
• Legal assessment of cases and preparation of decision-making bases for the operational activities in the department
• Legal review and preparation of directives and orders in the areas of social assistance and housing
• Advice and support on labour law issues
• Preparation of statements in response to political motions and consultations
• Collaboration in the creation of regulations, guidelines, and concepts

What you bring

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in law
• Professional experience in administrative law and knowledge of asylum and refugee law is an advantage
• Enjoyment in handling diverse and practical legal issues
• High degree of independence, efficient and careful working style
• Confident oral and written expression in the German language
• High social competence and ability to work in a team
• Interest in political and social developments
