The Directorate for Security, Environment and Energy is committed to safety, protection and assistance, environmental protection, sustainable energy supply and is responsible for building permit procedures as well as for the Bern Zoo. The Office for Adult and Child Protection is the competence centre of the City of Bern in the field of investigations, guardianships and inheritances.
What you will achieve
- You lead the Inheritance Office professionally, organisationally and personally (span of control: 12 employees), consisting of the inheritance service, sealing service and testament service.
- You ensure a legally compliant, efficient and service-oriented handling of all inheritance law tasks of the City of Bern: coordination of sealings, opening of wills, inheritance inventories, estate administrations and calls to heirs.
- You advise and support employees, internal city departments and other stakeholders on complex inheritance law issues.
- You further develop processes, workflows and quality standards and work closely with the responsible specialist departments and authorities.
- You report directly to the department head of the EKS and support them in the overall organisation, management and coordination of the Inheritance Office.
What you bring
- Completed law degree (preferably with Bern notary or lawyer licence) and several years of professional and leadership experience in advocacy, notary office or public administration.
- Solid experience in inheritance matters or estate administration as well as good knowledge of inheritance and matrimonial property law and procedural law.
- Strong organisational and communication skills as well as high decision-making and negotiation competence.
- Structured working style, resilience, service orientation and composure even in demanding situations.
- Enjoyment in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in a varied field of activity at the interface of law, administration and service.
