The position is attached to the Diagnostic Department . Comprising nine medical services, its mission is to provide diagnoses, therapeutic products, therapeutic procedures, and specialised clinical consultations of high medical quality, within the best possible time and at an acceptable cost, to guide patient care and contribute to therapeutic decisions and actions.

The HUG Genetic Medicine Service offers a varied clinical activity covering almost all medical specialties, such as paediatrics, obstetrics, neurology, ophthalmology, cardiology, child psychiatry, etc. The medical activity concerns both outpatient and hospitalised patients, children and adults.

The service counts 5 specialist doctors and 2 junior doctors for its clinical activity, and has the most modern technological facilities including exome sequencing, whole genome sequencing, NIPT, microarrays, optical genome mapping as well as conventional cytogenetic and molecular analysis techniques.

This position requires close collaboration with specialists from various hospital medical services, private practice doctors, and allows participation in various multidisciplinary consultations and clinical or scientific meetings.

Job Description

The Genetic Medicine Service is looking for a head of clinic with a specialty title (FMH or equivalent title), to ensure, under the responsibility of senior doctors, comprehensive care of the genetic patient (adult or child) both in terms of clinical diagnosis and interpretation of genetic analysis results, and genetic counselling.

Working in a stimulating university environment, within a multidisciplinary team, you also contribute to the training of junior doctors with the possibility to participate in undergraduate university teaching.

You are encouraged to participate in research projects and to promote the service's activity through communications and publications.

Qualifications

You hold the federal medical diploma or have equivalent training and have obtained an FMH title in genetic medicine. If your diploma and/or specialisation comes from a foreign country, you have obtained recognition from the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO).

You have a Geneva cantonal practice licence.

You have perfect command of the French language (spoken and written – certified C1 level).

Endowed with excellent communication skills in a multidisciplinary team and with patients, you are a dynamic, flexible and committed person. Furthermore, you have leadership qualities allowing you to supervise junior doctors.

Finally, good knowledge of syndromology is an asset.
