Specialist in biomedical data management within the DSBU
The Data Stewardship Biomed Unit (DSBU) of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) and the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is seeking a Specialist in biomedical data management at a workload between 80% and 100%, on a fixed-term contract of 2 years. The starting date is scheduled for 1 September 2026.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, the CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Data Stewardship Biomed Unit (DSBU) supports researchers from the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of UNIL and CHUV in the management, sharing, and preservation of research data, in accordance with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and national and international requirements for Open Research Data (ORD).
Within a specialised team, you contribute to the development of solutions promoting interoperability, automation, and enhancement of biomedical data, with a particular focus on genomics and transcriptomics.
Mission
- You participate in the implementation of advanced research data management in genomics and transcriptomics, in accordance with FAIR standards, Open Research Data (ORD) requirements, and international recommendations in the field
- You provide personalised advisory services and conduct training sessions for researchers at FBM UNIL/CHUV to harmonise the sharing and preservation of research (meta)data
- You develop scripts and automate processes to ensure the consistency and interoperability of data and metadata on a large scale
- You develop applications, interfaces, and databases to integrate various data management tools within the IT environments of FBM, CHUV, and external partners.
Profile
- You hold a doctorate in life sciences
- You have at least 4 years of research experience in biology or medical biology, combined with advanced practice in data management in genomics and transcriptomics
- You possess strong proficiency in Python, UNIX, bash, and git
- You have proven skills in web development, database management, and API usage
- You are fluent in French and English, both spoken and written
- You demonstrate excellent organisational skills and meet deadlines
- You are recognised for your autonomy, pedagogy, and service orientation.
