Tasks
Core mission: As a security assistant in prisoner management and object protection, you are armed. For this demanding work, we seek people who are not easily unsettled. The profession requires psychological and physical stability, as you deal with people experiencing an extreme situation. Composure and resilience, self-control and a sensitivity in dealing with people from diverse cultures and social backgrounds are central.
Main tasks: You take on prisoner transports within and outside the canton, ensuring a safe and proper process. During court platoons, you are responsible for security during court hearings, and during hospital guards you ensure that detained persons are properly cared for and guarded during their stay – often for several hours.
Additional tasks: You are involved in the security concepts of the Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police – for example, in access controls, surveillance and guarding. At major events, you support colleagues from various police units.
Profile
Experience: You are under 57 years old at the start of training and hold Swiss citizenship or a C residence permit as well as a valid driving licence. An impeccable reputation is a matter of course for you. The formal requirements, including the physical prerequisites, form the basis for your training.
Personality: You act with caution and a sense of proportionality, approach people respectfully, communicate clearly and enjoy working in a team. Even in demanding moments, you remain calm and are physically and mentally resilient.
Education: You have completed a vocational apprenticeship (EFZ/EBA) or a higher school leaving certificate (Matura/FMS/WMS or similar) and feel confident using a PC and smartphone.
Language: German is your mother tongue or you have negotiation-level proficiency in spoken and written German at least at level C1.
