Head of Application Engineering (80-100%)

J. SCHNEEBERGER Maschinen AG develops and produces state-of-the-art CNC grinding machines with integrated robotics for the manufacture and regrinding of cutting tools and the production of a wide variety of precision parts.

J. SCHNEEBERGER Maschinen is represented in all major markets with its own sales and service branches or qualified partners. Customers include companies from tool manufacturing, the automotive industry and its suppliers, general mechanical engineering, the aerospace industry, energy technology and contract manufacturing.

What you can achieve with us:

Leadership role

As Head of Application Engineering, you bear the technical and organisational responsibility for a team of 5–8 specialists. You actively shape the further development of the department and ensure smooth, efficient operations:

• Leadership, planning and coordination of the team in day-to-day business as well as in project-related tasks
• Prioritisation and monitoring of ongoing tasks, projects and customer assignments
• Further development of processes, standards and best practices in the field of grinding technology
• Close collaboration with the software development department in the introduction of new technologies and processes
• Interface function to sales, product management and customers
• Promotion and development of team members

Daily business – hands-on activity

You see yourself as a hands-on expert and are operationally involved daily. Your specific tasks include:

• Analysis, evaluation and implementation of new grinding processes in close cooperation with software development
• Grinding tests & demos: Independent execution of grinding tests as well as machine demonstrations for potential customers – from preparation to evaluation
• Machine acceptance: Preparation and execution of machine acceptance together with national and international customers
• Training: Design and delivery of user training – both in our own training centre and directly at customers worldwide
• Technical support: Telephone and remote support for software and application questions from our international customers

What we expect from you:

Education, expertise & experienceTechnical education in mechanical engineering FH / ETH or equivalent

• Sound knowledge in the field of 5-axis CNC technology
• Several years of professional experience in CNC machining
• Familiarity with grinding processes, abrasives and grinding strategies
• Experience in leading a team is an advantage

Personality & soft skills

• Strong hands-on mentality: You get stuck in, think solution-oriented and do not lose the overview
• Communicative, customer-oriented personality with confident appearance
• Structured, independent working style and high quality awareness
• Enjoyment in training and explaining – even in complex technical situations
• Willingness to travel for international customer assignments

Languages

• German: fluent (spoken and written)

• English: very good (working language in an international environment)
• Other languages: an advantage
