In a nutshell
The Organization, Law and Accreditation (OA) service area provides cross-departmental services for the entire SECO in various areas including legal advice. Hierarchically, the OA service area reports directly to the State Secretary of SECO. The Legal Department (OARE) within the OA service area advises and supports the State Secretary, management and line in legal matters. The scope of tasks includes administrative, contractual and procedural legal issues. In addition, the Legal Department performs legislative, enforcement and supervisory tasks in various areas of economic law, especially in the field of unfair competition and price disclosure.
The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is the federal competence center for all core issues of economic and labor market policy and belongs to the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER). It promotes international market opening for goods, services and investments. To reduce poverty, SECO is engaged in economic development cooperation. It plans economic and trade policy measures in favor of developing countries, Eastern European and Central Asian countries as well as the new member states of the European Union (EU).
