The Civil Engineering Office is responsible for the planning, construction, maintenance and operation of the cantonal roads as well as water engineering and slow traffic in Graubünden. In addition, we take care of the operational maintenance of the national roads within the canton. The canton’s road infrastructure includes over 1,450 engineering structures, including bridges at dizzying heights of up to 90 metres and tunnels up to 3 kilometres long. The challenges posed by the nature of our mountainous canton in summer and winter make our work demanding and varied. We are looking for the Road Maintenance Department in District 6 Ilanz from 1 March 2027 or by arrangement a Head of District Civil Engineering Office

Your area of responsibility

• Overall responsibility for the operational, personnel and strategic management of the district civil engineering office with around 50 employees, who work decentrally at various locations
• Responsible for the operational and structural maintenance of the cantonal roads as well as the expansion of connecting roads
• Leadership, promotion and further development of employees as well as ensuring a service-oriented administrative culture
• Representation of the Civil Engineering Office in the district as well as coordination and cooperation with municipalities, cantonal authorities, engineering offices, contractors and other stakeholders in the district

What we expect from you

• Completed technical studies, master builder or comparable training in civil engineering, civil engineering or related fields
• Several years of professional and leadership experience, ideally in public administration, civil engineering or an infrastructure environment
• Strong leadership personality with high social competence, integrity and assertiveness
• Ability to motivate employees, develop teams and live a appreciative leadership culture
• Negotiation skills and experience in dealing with various interest groups
• Confident appearance as well as fluent oral and written communication in German
• Good knowledge of Romansh is an advantage
