About the job
At the Office for Civil Protection and Military Uri, which includes the departments of Civil Protection, Fire Inspectorate, District Command, Military Service Replacement, Emergency Organisation, and Chemical Defence, the position is to be newly filled due to the retirement of the previous incumbent. For this versatile and demanding management position, the Department of Security is seeking a competent, responsible, and dynamic leader as of 1 June 2027 or by agreement.
Responsibilities
- Management of the Office for Civil Protection and Military with its five departments (around 15 employees) in organisational, professional, personnel, and financial matters
- Execution tasks in the areas of civil protection, fire protection, emergency organisation, and military
- Coordination of contingency planning in civil protection
- Leadership of and participation in conferences, commissions, working groups, and committees
- Management of all preparatory measures with the cantonal command staff
- Leadership of the Cantonal Command Staff in emergencies
- Advising the Government Council and the Department of Security on civil protection and military matters
- Leading, supporting, and implementing projects
- Preparing reports, consultations, and submissions for the Directorate and the Government Council
- Advising cantonal and municipal authorities, offices, and institutions on all specialist matters
- Representing the office to the public and authorities
Your Profile
- University of applied sciences degree in a technical or business field or equivalent education
- Several years of professional and leadership experience in civil protection
- Experience in managing emergencies / crisis management
- Strategic, conceptual, networked, and interdisciplinary thinking and acting skills
- Ability to motivate, high resilience, assertiveness, and negotiation skills
- Knowledge of political processes and administrative structures
- High social competence
- Fluency in oral and written communication
