Your Tasks
Enhance the canton’s security: In this role, you will take on operational and engineering tasks within the cantonal cyber security infrastructure, focusing on firewall, WAF, proxy, SASE (ZTNA, SWG, CASB), DDI, remote access solutions, and cloud integrations.
Exciting projects in the cyber security domain: As part of our Security Engineering team, you will develop and optimise new solutions together with our clients, take responsibility for their continuous development, and ensure stable operation in collaboration with our partners.
Ensure service operations: Your duties also include participating in the rotating operational responsibility (incident, change, and problem management) as well as on-call and special deployments, all ensured through close collegial teamwork.
Make security services future-proof: You actively shape security architectures, standards, and operating models, ensure high quality and service standards, and continuously develop stable and future-proof security services for the cantonal infrastructure.
Expand knowledge purposefully: We support your development potential specifically and promote your further training. You bring an interest in new technologies and a willingness to continuously engage with further security topics and actively expand your knowledge.
Your Profile
Experience: You have solid experience in engineering and operating firewall, WAF, proxy, SASE, DDI, remote access, and cloud integrations. In solution engineering, you develop tailored and customer-oriented solutions.
Personality: You work independently, in a structured and customer-oriented manner. With analytical thinking, a solution-focused approach, and enjoyment in knowledge exchange within the team, you confidently find appropriate answers.
Education: You hold a higher IT qualification or a basic IT education with solid practical experience. Relevant security certifications underline your current and practical expertise.
Language: You communicate factually and appropriately in German and have good English skills. You apply the terminology of cyber and information security confidently and purposefully.

IT BS is the internal IT service provider of the Canton of Basel-Stadt and belongs to the Department of Finance. The department provides the collaboration and communication infrastructure for mobile and stationary IT workplaces and the associated support. Additionally, IT BS continuously develops various offerings for the public in the area of eGovernment and digitalisation. A functioning IT is central to the efficient operation of the cantonal administration.
