The position is attached to the Department of Community and Primary Care Medicine (DMCPR). This department combines a societal mission aimed at ensuring access to healthcare for all and an academic mission focused on pre- and post-graduate teaching and research in primary care medicine.
The Primary Care Medicine Service (SMPR) provides outpatient care for adult patients within primary care medicine. This service also offers ambulatory emergency medical services to the population. As part of the HUG's general interest missions, it provides access to care for disadvantaged populations due to their age, social, economic, legal status (asylum seekers, those subject to non-admission, undocumented migrants, prisoners), or lifestyle habits; if necessary, the primary care medicine service also ensures continuity of their care.
Job Description
As a nurse at the Ambulatory Emergency Unit (UUA), you ensure the reception, assessment, and care of adult patients in their entirety during a short stay.
You direct patients to the appropriate care sectors according to their reason for consultation in accordance with the Swiss Triage Scale.
You work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team as well as internal and external care networks (community medicine, Geneva Emergency Network (RUG)). Your empathy and interpersonal skills enable you to position yourself as a full care partner.
Equipped with great adaptability and a keen sense of organisation, you effectively handle unforeseen events, significant fluctuations in patient flow, and acute clinical situations.
You are able to manage stress and the emotional impact related to daily care situations, including those involving violence.
Motivated and attentive, you are a dynamic person ready to invest yourself, sharing relational values such as trust, respect, team spirit, recognition, equality, and inclusion.
You possess excellent interpersonal skills, a welcoming attitude, and compassionate communication.
Open to change, you are willing to question and evolve your practices within a continuous improvement approach.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent nursing diploma recognised by the Swiss Red Cross.
You have at least two years of successful professional experience in acute care and/or ambulatory emergency care.
You master triage activity according to the Swiss Triage Scale; if not, the corresponding training must be completed after the first year of practice.
A certified training in emergency care would be a significant asset.
You have excellent prioritisation, analytical, and synthesis skills in complex care contexts.
Proficiency in a foreign language, particularly English, is an appreciated advantage.
You demonstrate a particular sensitivity to issues related to the care of vulnerable populations.
