KORNFELD
Photographer Art 50 – 60%
Precisely capturing art. Making quality visible. Conveying values.
Kornfeld is the leading owner-managed auction house for fine art in Switzerland. Since 1864, we have accompanied our clients personally and across generations, handling the entrusted works with the utmost reliability, expertise, care, and appreciation.
We create the place where art connects people.
To make art visible in all its facets and effects and to present it appropriately, it takes people with a trained eye, technical skill, and a pronounced understanding of quality and precision. For our photography, we are looking for a personality who, with personal responsibility, professionally photographs our artworks and thus makes an important contribution to their documentation, presentation, and mediation.
Your task
As a photographer, you are responsible for the professional photographic capture of our artworks. In our fully equipped photo studio, you ensure that works of various genres and materials are reproduced precisely, colour-accurately, and authentically.
Your tasks lie between photographic craftsmanship, technical demands, and the special handling of art. Especially during catalogue production, you work independently, reliably, and with a high awareness of quality and deadlines.
You
- photograph artworks for our auctions, publications, website, and other communication media, ensuring a consistent, high-quality visual language.
- carefully adjust lighting, camera, and shooting conditions to the respective artwork and its particularities, independently finding suitable photographic solutions for special requirements.
- professionally process the images digitally and ensure colour fidelity, perspective, proportions, and material-appropriate reproduction.
- are responsible for the structured filing, naming, and assignment of image data and ensure their reliable availability.
- work closely with our art experts and other internal departments and coordinate the photographic implementation according to the respective requirements.
- keep an overview even with larger quantities of works and during intense phases around the auction, ensuring an efficient and reliable process.
- continuously develop our photographic workflows and quality standards together with us and support, if necessary, the photographic documentation of exhibitions, events, and other Kornfeld activities.
What you bring
We are looking for a personality with a pronounced photographic understanding, a sure sense of image quality, and the willingness to engage with each work individually. You work carefully, independently, and reliably, combining technical skill with attention and appreciation for art.
You have training in photography or a comparable qualification as well as several years of professional experience in photography. You master studio and lighting photography, digital image editing, and professional colour management and are confident in handling professional camera and lighting technology as well as common programmes for image editing and data management, especially Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
Experience in reproduction or art photography is an advantage. What matters to us are your high standards of quality, your eye for detail, your ability to work precisely and focused even under time pressure, your enjoyment of collaboration, and your flexibility during periods of high and low workloads. Our working language is German; experience with artworks and interest in the art market are welcome.
How we work at Kornfeld
Personal responsibility, trust, attention, and appreciation shape our actions. Commitment, collaboration, service orientation, and fascination with art determine how we live this attitude in everyday life.
For your role, this means concretely: You take responsibility for the quality of your work, handle the entrusted artworks attentively and carefully, and reliably contribute your expertise actively to the collaboration. Besides an intensive working phase during catalogue production, the position offers high flexibility in the low season.
You can expect a varied and responsible role in an exceptional environment with direct contact to significant artworks from various epochs. Your photographic expertise directly contributes to the quality of our auctions and our communication across different media.
