About the job
Educational ICT Systems Specialist & (Co-)Project Manager AI Agents and Automation Service Digital Examinations (m/f/d)
Help shape the future of education
The digitalisation of university teaching is on the brink of a profound transformation. For a strategic key project in the field of digital examinations, we are looking for a person who brings together technologies, people and processes and actively drives the use of AI agents.
Strengthen the Digital Education Services group in the EduIT section as an Educational IT Systems Specialist and (Co-)Project Manager AI Agents and Automation of the Digital Examinations Service (m/f/d) on a fixed-term basis for 1 year, extendable to 3 years.
Project Background
The section Educational IT Services (EduIT) of ETH IT Services supports contemporary, effective and innovative teaching at ETH Zurich with a coordinated portfolio of tools, services and support. The portfolio supports lecturers and students throughout the entire higher education didactic practice, starting from learning objectives through the design of learning activities, teaching, examinations to evaluation. EduIT works closely with the other sections of ETH IT Services as well as within the ETH Rectorate with the Department of Teaching and Learning (Unit for Teaching and Learning, UTL) and the Academic Services (AkD).
EduIT is responsible for the Digital Examinations Service. With flexibly adaptable digital examination environments for authentic, resource-rich and subject-related examinations and a scaling to currently over 500 examinations per year, EduIT is internationally leading in this area. EduIT develops open source learning technologies such as the Safe Exam Browser (SEB) and Moodle plugins or the ETH EduApp. In addition, EduIT is involved in the development of the ETH AI platform. Many of the technologies developed at EduIT are used at universities worldwide.
Job Description
In this role, you will work on a project with great impact for the entire organisation: within the framework of the project AI Agents and Automation of the Digital Examinations Service, the Digital Examinations Service is to be comprehensively automated. You will develop and implement modern automation solutions as well as AI agent systems for the Digital Examinations Service. You will design and implement interfaces, integrations and APIs between a variety of platforms and services, creating the foundation for user-friendly, powerful and thus scalable solutions. Together with the specialist departments, you will analyse existing processes, define automation workflows and shape their implementation along complex technical, professional and organisational requirements.
From conception through implementation to piloting and successful service transition, you will accompany the entire lifecycle of the solutions. You will continuously further develop the automations together with the relevant stakeholders and ensure their sustainable operation. In addition, you will take on responsibility in (co-)project management, coordinate different stakeholders and make an important contribution to the successful implementation of a strategically significant endeavour.
You will also contribute your experience to the further development of the university-wide AI platform under construction. Here you will work closely with a second person employed for this project, formulate requirements from practice and operations and contribute to the design of future-proof solutions. Through the active further development of processes and services, you will help to sustainably harness the potential of AI and automation in the university environment.
