The municipality of Seftigen is located in the upper Gürbetal. The village lies on the terminal moraine hill of the Belpberg, nestled between the mountain forest to the north and the Widerhub to the south. Seftigen extends from the Wyssbach to the Allmend area. The municipality covers an area of around 4 km2 and is situated at 578 meters above sea level. Neighboring municipalities are Uetendorf, Burgistein, Gurzelen, and Noflen. Politically, Seftigen belongs to the Thun administrative district.
The municipality is located on the S4 and S44 railway lines with direct connections to Thun and Bern. The distance to Thun is about 10 km and to Bern about 25 km. The Thun-Nord motorway access can be reached in about 5 minutes by car.
At the Seftigen school, around 170 students are taught in 9 classes. They are assigned to 2 kindergarten, 5 primary, and 2 mixed-grade secondary classes.

Tasks
The municipality of Seftigen is looking for a committed and competent individual to lead the Seftigen public school. In this responsible role, you will manage the school operationally in the areas of pedagogy, special education, personnel, organization, administration, and finance according to cantonal school legislation.
Educational leadership
- Implementation of the curriculum and cantonal requirements
- Ensuring and further developing school and teaching quality
- Development and implementation of mission statement, school, and annual program
- Promotion of innovation and teamwork
- Conducting classroom visits
- Co-responsibility for school career decisions
- Coordination of integration and support measures
Personnel management
- Leadership and support of teachers and staff
- Promotion of a motivating school culture
- Ensuring task fulfillment according to professional mandate
- Personnel planning, hiring, and organization of substitutes
- Conducting employee interviews and setting goals
- Planning and designing personnel development and further training
Organization and administration
- Implementation of legal requirements and school organization
- Cooperation with municipal offices, inspectorate, and specialist offices
- Coordination with day school and other services
- Guidance on infrastructure management
- Budget responsibility within the given framework
Communication and public relations
- Cooperation with the school commission
- Ensuring internal and external communication
- Maintaining contact with parents, authorities, and external partners
- Representing the school publicly
Quality development
- Evaluation and further development of school processes
- Implementation of quality standards and school program
- Preparation of controlling and reporting
Current projects
- Introduction of mixed-age classes at the primary level
- Introduction of Model 4 at the secondary level
- Development of a talent school location at the secondary level
- Location development infrastructure
- Examination of IT connection to the Thun data center
- Pilot project school social work is ongoing
Requirements
- Pedagogical basic training with several years of professional experience
- Completed school leadership training or willingness to complete it
- Leadership experience in the education sector is an advantage
- Familiarity with Bernese school system and cantonal legislation (VSG, LAG, LAV)
- Goal- and solution-oriented leadership personality with a positive attitude
- Team-oriented, strong communication skills, and organizational talent
- Independent and resilient personality suitable for public relations

Possibly an additional 5-10% leadership of special education (assignment region Wattenwil) to supervise bVSA and eU projects and for personnel management of special educators at the Seftigen location
