The benefits, including a cafeteria and a view of the lake, are nice. Working from home and flexible hours are good.

Leadership skills in upper management leave much to be desired. They lack transparency and have a condescending attitude. They are unable to accept criticism and do not set a good example. There is significant room for improvement. The atmosphere is poor due to intense cost-cutting pressure. The “Great Place to Work” label is just a facade. In some cases, there is very little appreciation for employees. Decision-making processes are too lengthy, and even simple procedures take too long.

I found my interactions with various other teams and departments to be a positive experience. The collaboration there was mostly friendly, respectful, and open. The working conditions and benefits are also attractive: a 40-hour workweek, the option to work from home, and 10 days of “Work from Everywhere” per year. Overall, Tecan offers good, modern working conditions in these areas.

In practice, the role I was hired for only partially matched what had been described to me beforehand. Very early on, I was expected to analyze and automate complex processes, yet at the same time, I lacked—in some cases—basic system access and necessary information to do so. Instead of improving these working conditions, I encountered very high expectations, little patience, and, at times, an unreasonably harsh approach. In my view, mistakes and problems were heavily attributed to me personally, even though organizational prerequisites were lacking. I would have expected more support, prioritization, coaching, and a fair assessment of the situation from a manager.

In the fallow land there is an extremely high amount of money with the customers.

Increase the quality of products, not just optimize them for profit.
