This works well in the company
There are competent and dedicated people among my colleagues—team spirit remains strong despite the challenging circumstances. The location in Bern is convenient, and there’s parking right in front of the building.
This could be improved
I found the management to be aloof and somewhat elusive. From what I could tell, decisions were made behind closed doors and then passed down from the top—without context, without explanation, and with little dialogue. I had the impression of a patronizing management style in which input was neither sought nor desired. In my experience, anyone who asks questions or suggests improvements is not heard. Transparency toward employees was, in my view, a foreign concept. Strategically, I felt that the status quo was being managed rather than the future being actively shaped. I could not discern a vision or a shared direction. Changes were weathered out rather than addressed. This leads to frustration among people who want to make a difference. Ultimately, the committed ones don’t stay long, and those who do stay simply adapt. I found the compensation to be below average, and career development opportunities were, in my view, practically nonexistent.

This works well in the company
The following statements are based on my personal opinion and my subjective experiences. I particularly liked the location of the workplace. It is centrally located, easily accessible and offers free parking. At the same time, I found the space to be cramped and noisy. I missed communal areas such as a kitchen, canteen or lounge, which I felt was inadequate given the number of employees. In terms of leadership, I got the impression that leadership is primarily based on detailed instructions and control. This seemed to me as if responsibility and decisions were being pushed upwards, which on the one hand contributes to a high level of stress at management level and on the other hand restricts the independence and personal responsibility of employees.

The following statements are based exclusively on my personal opinion and my subjective experiences. In my view, the working environment is highly hierarchical and consistently geared towards administration rather than organization. Decisions are made top-down and employees are primarily expected to perform. Personal initiative, thinking or further development are hardly desired. Overall, the organization is characterized by caution and the fear of making mistakes, which is why change tends to be avoided. I also perceive a desire to safeguard existing structures rather than to consistently drive forward harmonization or digitalization in the supporting organizations. Dealing with labor law issues seems outdated and not very professional to me. Regulations on working hours and overtime seem inconsistent and decisions are not always transparent. The high staff turnover fits into this overall picture for me.
