Die kantonale Verwaltung beschäftigt rund 2300 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter (1650 Vollzeitstellen) und ist der grösste Arbeitgeber im Kanton Schwyz. Die Mitarbeitenden erfüllen ihren verantwortungsvollen Auftrag in ihrer täglichen Arbeit und verbessern die Qualität und die Effizienz ihrer Tätigkeit stetig. Staatskanzlei, Departement des Innern, Volkswirtschaftsdepartement, Bildungsdepartement, Sicherheitsdepartement, Finanzdepartement, Umweltdepartement sowie das Baudepartement bilden die kantonale Verwaltung, die vom Regierungsrat geführt wird. Der Kanton Schwyz bildet rund 50 Lernende in verschiedenen Berufsgruppen aus. Ausserdem ermöglicht er Berufserfahrung mittels Praktika und Schnuppertagen zu sammeln und somit verschiedene Berufsfelder und die kantonale Verwaltung als Arbeitgeber kennenzulernen. Seit 2019 ist die kantonale Verwaltung Schwyz stolze Trägerin des Labels Swiss Olympic.
