You can contribute in this role
- Shape the real estate strategy of the Swiss Army and manage the cross-location infrastructure planning of the Defence sector
- Coordinate investment, location and utilisation planning with the overall military and armament planning and develop it strategically
- Be responsible for real estate projects from needs definition to release for implementation and ensure the targeted use of the real estate budget
- Represent the interests of the Army vis-à-vis armasuisse Real Estate, federal offices, cantons and political bodies and prepare decision-making bases for Parliament and the Department
- Further develop standards, processes and governance in real estate management as well as approve agreements and real estate decisions
- Lead the real estate area, strengthen cross-departmental collaboration and advise Army leadership on all strategic real estate matters
What makes you unique
- University degree in business administration, engineering, architecture or a comparable field, complemented by business or technical further training
- Several years of leadership experience in a strategic management role with responsibility for complex organisations or large projects
- Extensive experience in real estate management, strategic planning and managing demanding investment and infrastructure projects
- Strong sensitivity to political, economic and organisational contexts as well as experience dealing with demanding stakeholders
- Very good knowledge of the federal administration and the DDPS; military experience is an advantage
- Good active knowledge of at least one second official language and passive knowledge of a third official language

The Army Staff (A Staff) supports the Chief of the Army in leading the Defence Department area and is responsible for the overall military planning and development of the Swiss Army. Here, according to political guidelines, the strategic foundations, force development and army and armament planning are developed, and tasks in the international security context are undertaken. The leadership, control and coordination of all overarching cross-sectional areas (personnel, finance, real estate) also fall within the responsibility of the Army Staff.
The Swiss Army employs over 9,000 people in four military and around 200 civilian professions – at 110 locations throughout Switzerland. The next generation is also taken care of: the Swiss Army trains apprentices in over 30 professions.
