For the Educational Counselling Langenthal, we are looking for a new head from 1 July 2027 or by arrangement (80-100%); co-leadership applications are also welcome.
Your tasks
- Leadership: You will lead the Langenthal regional office professionally, personally, organisationally and operationally with a team of educational counsellors, school psychologists and secretarial staff.
- Basic provision: Together with the team, you ensure the broad advisory service of child, youth and school psychological basic provision in accordance with the cantonal mandate.
- Counselling & treatment: In addition to leadership duties, you will advise and treat children, young people, their families and caregivers on a variety of child and youth psychological issues.
- Networking & development: You work closely with schools, school supervision and other cantonal and regional partners and are involved in expert committees on structural and development issues in the education sector.
Your profile
- Professional foundation & leadership: You hold a Master’s degree in Psychology at university level and ideally the diploma of the Canton of Bern in Educational Counselling-School Psychology or an equivalent qualification/experience. Furthermore, you have leadership experience or are motivated to acquire leadership skills.
- Further qualifications: Knowledge of the Bernese school and education system as well as a specialist title in child and youth psychology or psychotherapy FSP are advantageous.
- Personal skills: Your personal qualities include high resilience, consensus ability and negotiation skills. You are strong in oral and written communication and have experience in teamwork. In hectic moments, you manage to keep an overview. You have good oral knowledge of French.
- Willingness to shape: In addition, you are motivated to actively shape and further develop your field of activity.

The Office for Kindergarten, Primary School and Counselling of the Department of Education and Culture manages the areas of kindergarten and primary school, the cantonal educational counselling as well as the recognised music schools and the school supervision of the German- and French-speaking parts of the canton.
The cantonal educational counselling supports and advises parents, children and young people as well as all persons and institutions responsible for the education and upbringing of children and young people on questions and difficulties concerning the development, upbringing and schooling of children and young people from early childhood to the end of secondary level II education.
