Who we are
The University of Bern educates over 19,400 students and employs more than 8,000 people in around 150 institutes as well as the central administration.
The IT Services department plans and implements the central IT infrastructure for students and staff of the University of Bern. It operates all important IT services from the network to cloud services and advises the faculties and institutes in IT matters.
We are a dynamic and innovative team specialising in the management and further development of Linux systems as well as the operation of storage and virtualisation systems at the University of Bern. To strengthen our VM and storage team, we are looking for a committed Linux System Administrator.
Tasks
- Responsibility for operating the mail hub service
- Deputy, later main responsibility for the mailing list service
- Deputy support for the virtualisation platform
- Deputy for Hitachi storage solution
- Deputy, later main responsibility for TSM Tivoli tape solution
- Co-design and development of new services for internal customers of the University of Bern
Requirements
- Completed training as an IT specialist EFZ or a comparable qualification.
- Enthusiasm for virtualisation solutions and storage systems
- Experience with Ansible, Git, GitHub workflows and other tools is an advantage
- A strong awareness of IT security and its importance
- High motivation, independence, initiative and willingness to learn new things
