Modern IT infrastructures require more than reliable operation: technical understanding, a security mindset, and a view to the next generation are needed. This position offers an experienced ICT professional the opportunity to actively shape hybrid infrastructures and accompany demanding projects from idea to implementation.
Responsibilities:
Technical responsibility for a hybrid infrastructure consisting of VMware, physical systems, and Microsoft Azure
Architecture, operation, and continuous optimisation of highly available server and platform solutions
Monitoring the entire infrastructure with modern monitoring and observability approaches
Design, construction, and further development of backup and disaster recovery strategies with Veeam
Ensuring a resilient business continuity and recovery environment
Analysis and sustainable resolution of complex 2nd-level incidents
Investigation of security events and coordination of appropriate countermeasures
Implementation of preventive protection mechanisms for servers, cloud services, and infrastructure components
Automation of administrative tasks with PowerShell and Azure Automation
Further development of Microsoft 365, Intune, and cloud-based services
Collaboration in optimising network and connectivity concepts
Planning and leading demanding infrastructure projects
Managing external IT partners in technical projects and implementations
Evaluation of new technologies and integration of suitable solutions into productive operation
Qualifications:
Completed ICT training or comparable technical qualification with relevant further education
Several years of experience in engineering and operating Windows server infrastructures
Solid knowledge of virtualisation with VMware
Practical experience with Veeam Backup & Replication and disaster recovery
Good knowledge of network technologies, ideally in the Cisco environment
Experience with Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud architectures
Know-how in Microsoft 365 and Intune
Confident handling of PowerShell and interest in infrastructure as code and automation
Knowledge of Azure Automation and Logic Apps is an advantage
Exposure to Linux and SQL is desirable
Strong understanding of IT security, monitoring, and system availability
Analytical thinking and enjoyment of complex technical challenges
