The Burgdorf Regional Prison is the most modern prison in the Canton of Bern and stands for a secure, structured and responsible execution of various types of detention. With around 160 inmates and 60 employees, we ensure an orderly operation and high safety standards every day. We are guided by the motto: "Safety today and tomorrow. Due to an internal transfer, we are looking for an Employee for Supervision & Care (100%), temporarily limited until 31 December 2027, starting 1 November 2026 or by arrangement.

Your tasks

• You care for, accompany and supervise the inmates throughout the entire duration of their detention.
• As a contact and reference person, you maintain a respectful, professional relationship with an appropriate balance of closeness and distance.
• You act without prejudice, consistently and responsibly. In doing so, you reliably implement applicable regulations and instructions and contribute to a safe, orderly daily routine.
• You bring a service-oriented approach and make an important contribution to protecting the public, employees and inmates in the

Your profile

• You have completed a recognised vocational training (EFZ) and have several years of professional experience.
• You demonstrate respectful, unbiased, professional interaction with people from different cultures. Even in challenging situations, you act confidently with the right balance of closeness and distance.
• You are a team player, responsible, resilient and solution-oriented in dealing with criticism and conflicts.
• You are characterised by IT affinity and administrative competence.
• You are a native German speaker and have good communication skills in another national language or English. Additional language skills are an advantage.
• A clean criminal record is required.

About the Office for the Execution of Sentences

The Office for the Execution of Sentences (AJV) is responsible for open and closed penal and measure enforcement for adults and juveniles within the Security Directorate of the Canton of Bern (SID) with around 1000 employees. To fulfil this task, the office has four concordat penal institutions, four regional prisons, the surveillance station at Inselspital, the detention control centre and probation and enforcement services at its disposal.
