• Design, further develop and maintain applications, work tools and databases
• Develop, adapt and optimise digital work tools in collaboration with various specialist departments
• Ensure quality, maintainability and availability of the deployed solutions
• Implement regression tests and test procedures
• Take on additional technical tasks and support further projects if required

What makes you unique

• University degree as a computer scientist or electrical engineer
• Several years of experience in software development
• Confident handling of at least one modern programming language and in Linux or UNIX system environments
• In-depth understanding of databases, interfaces and web-based applications
• Experienced use of version control systems, automated tests and structured development processes
• Good active knowledge of a second official language; business fluent English skills

In a nutshell

At the General Staff School, the staffs of the Swiss Army and other crisis management organisations are trained on the leadership simulator. A modern simulator is available for this training support. The Training Command (Kdo Ausb) is responsible for training within the Swiss Army – from recruitment through general basic training to leadership training for the militia and professional military. The Kdo Ausb includes advanced leadership training, army personnel, five training units, the training centre as well as the specialist unit Women in the Army and Diversity. One third of the approximately 2,350 employees work in civilian professions in the scientific, technical, medical, psychological, administrative or sporting fields and contribute to success together with the professional military.

The Swiss Army employs over 9,000 staff in four military and around 200 civilian professions – at 110 locations throughout Switzerland. The next generation is also taken care of: the Swiss Army trains apprentices in over 30 professions.
